About Angelica

Angelica Brophy is an exceptional mother to 2 wonderful children, a devoted wife, hilarious sister and daughter, fantastic friend, and fiercely compassionate emergency room nurse. She is funny, a seasoned hiker and runner, world traveler, and a force to be reckoned with. She has been missing since July 6th, 2026, last known to be hiking Palomar Mountain State Park; a picturesque place she frequents to get her steps in on the trails.

Her loving husband and kids need her home safe, and are desperate for life to feel normal again. Her patients need the warm and vigilant care she provides in their own most vulnerable moments and times of need. And the rest of us need her infectious smile and unmistakable laugh back in our lives. There are more memories to be made with her friends and family, and we need that support from our community more than ever. We are determined to find her and we will not stop our search.

Angelica may have been wearing this backpack on the day she went missing. Her daughter reported seeing it in the car on July 6th before being dropped off at camp and the police reported that it was not in the car after she disappeared.

Vehicle located; Search launched

Using her old phone, Angelica’s husband saw the Apple Watch’s last known location at the Doane Pond trailhead and relayed that information to her brother, who was already canvassing nearby. He then requested a welfare check from the Valley Center Substation. Angelica's brother located the vehicle and notified a park employee, who began contacting park rangers.

Weekend Volunteer Search — Under-Searched Areas (Family-Led), Day 2

8:00 AM–6:00 PM · Palomar Mountain area — self-paced; four target areas in the description

This weekend we are directing volunteers to areas with little or no recorded search coverage. Check the CalTopo map first to see covered ground (caltopo.com/m/29N86BA), then choose one of these four areas.

1) Lone Fir Point (moderate, some off-trail) - still nearly empty on the coverage map. Long pants and a buddy are a must.

2) Agua Tibia Wilderness, Cleveland National Forest (EXPERIENCED HIKERS ONLY) - zero coverage so far. Remote and rugged with long approaches; treat it as a full-day effort, minimum two people, extra water.

3) Cutca Trail and Eagle Crag (EXPERIENCED ONLY - HIGH-CLEARANCE/4WD REQUIRED) - only attempt with the right vehicle, solid navigation, and a partner.

Never search alone - buddy up and hike within your ability. Self-paced during daylight hours.

NOTE: The Palomar Christian Conference Center has an event this weekend and requested that volunteers do NOT enter their grounds. They have however offered Angelica's family access as needed. Please be respectful and avoid their property.

Oceanside PD has paused search operations at the park, but the investigation remains open and police continue to follow up on all leads and tips. The family has identified three areas that still need a thorough search and will be on the mountain today and over the coming days — any assistance is appreciated.

Area 1: beyond Lone Fir Point (circled in red on the map); may be off trail.

Area 2: inside the Scott's Cabin Trail loop, off trail (circled in blue).

Area 3: the Boucher Trail and Adams Trail loops (blue/light blue), off trail, split by the connector toward Lone Fir Trail. See the marked areas on the CalTopo map (link above) and the images posted in the Bring Angelica Brophy Home Facebook group. Hike with a buddy and within your ability — solo trekking is not recommended.
